Yester Farm Dairies News

Firstly we hope that all our customers and friends have been keeping healthy and well. It’s certainly a strange time as restrictions ease but we are still unsure of where we should go or who we should meet or indeed if lockdown will be re-imposed.

Many of our customers have invested a lot in making their restaurants safe for customers so we hope you will take advantage of the “Eat out to Help out” scheme. In doing so you will be supporting not just the restaurant but all their suppliers, like us, too.

THANK YOU

Thank%2Byou.jpg

We continue to be blown away by your support. In the 5 months (yes five) since lockdown and the opening of our online shop on 19th March you have placed more than 3500 orders with us and we have delivered our produce all over the UK from London to the Isle of Lewis. We have also begun some great collaborations with other like-minded folks which we hope will continue and grow in the months to come.

We love a good statistic so when we reviewed the analytics from our website we found that Ana Hynd from Haddington had placed the most orders (23) and Susan Lang Bissel from Musselburgh had spent the most (a lot!) – so to say thank you to these two lovely customers in particular we have given them a £10.00 discount code off their next order. Check your inboxes Ana and Susan (don’t worry they have given us permission to reveal their names!).

“My order increased when I saw that you produced cheese and were supplying other local foods. The quality of your cottage cheese and cream cheese is fabulous, we love the smoked salmon and real bread too.”
— Susan
“We really love your delicious products and love the fact that we are supporting you by buying local!“
— Ana

FEATURED PRODUCT AND RECIPE

We love hearing your feedback on our products and some of the nicest comments we’ve had have been about our luxury soft cheese. Lots of people tell us once you try it you’ll never go back to a big brand soft cheese. You can buy it from us online as well as lots of good independent retailers and Scottish Sainsbury’s. Our latest recipe from The Bakers’ Bunny combines our luxury soft cheese with double cream and Belhaven Smoked Salmon to create an amazing Smoked Salmon Mouse. Check out this and other fab recipes here.

GETTING TO KNOW US

In this section of our Blog we will introduce you to a new member of Team Yester. This time it’s the turn of Nick Ban. Nick lives here on the farm with his partner Georgiana (who also works in the cheese room), their BEAUTIFUL brand new baby, Evelyne, and Nick’s brother John (who works here on the farm side too).

Nick started with us as a cheese packer just after we opened the cheese room. His ability to learn and good attitude were quickly noticed so he began to train in cheese making, undertaking an apprenticeship and gaining his SQA Level 2 qualification along the way. He is now our senior cheese maker and responsible for making the lovely products you enjoy.

We did a quick Q&A with Nick below so you can get to know him better.
